2017 marks a very special year for Crime Stoppers Victoria – we’re celebrating 30 years of helping to make Victoria a safer place.
Since our inception in 1987, Crime Stoppers has received more than 870,000 crime reports from the community. As a result, police have been able to make over 220,000 arrests, lay over 80,000 charges and seize more than $212 million worth of drugs, property and cash – solving thousands of crimes, securing justice for victims, and making Victoria a safer place.
We’ve supported Victorians in times of crisis, helped to locate missing people and gather intelligence after major incidents such as the Black Saturday bushfires, the Bali bombings and most recently the Bourke Street tragedy. We’ve run state-wide crime-prevention campaigns helping people prevent bushfires, avoid being conned by travelling con men, and dob in drug dealers. And yet, still many people are unaware that Crime Stoppers Victoria is a charity that relies on donations to continue keeping the community safe.
We are grateful to you, the Victorian media, for your continued support of our crime-fighting cause and helping us to spread our message as far and wide as possible – if you see something, say something.
