World Sideshow Festival

After a hugely successful inaugural event in 2015 the World Sideshow Festival is coming back to Ballarat, bigger and better than before.

Last festival saw huge crowds forming lines down Sturt Street and this year is expected to be even more popular.

“Last festival we featured one international artist, this year we have four” said Festival Director Shep Huntly. “We have artists from Canada, Holland and Norway joining the best Australia has to offer. We even have a Ballarat local this year, Emma J Hawkins will be appearing in a show called The Wild Women of Sideshow”.

The World Sideshow Festival will be held in the Ballarat Mechanics Institute over 3 fun-filled evenings from 11th – 13th of May.

“I am really proud of the program” said Huntly. “This year we have something for everyone. There will be five big shows over three nights including the Opening Night Cabaret which sold out last time, where all the artists present excerpts of their shows. The Monsters of Shlock from Canada are the world’s best comedy circus sideshow magic duo. There is a celebration of girl power with The Wild Women of Sideshow. The hit of 2015, The League of Sideshow Superstars are back with an all new cast. All the way from Norway comes The Headmaster, a true sideshow legend. This show is not for the faint hearted, but hardcore sideshow fans will love it. Proving that there is something for everyone this years’ festival will also feature a show tailored especially for kids called The Silly Circus Sideshow.

This is the only event of its type in the world. The festival director sifted thru applications from hundreds of artists wanting be involved.

Set in the beautiful gothic architecture of Ballarat, The World Sideshow Festival will bring audiences a truly unique experience when this world class event lands on their doorstep. The festival will appeal to theatre goers, circus lovers, sideshow fans and new audiences as well.

You can buy a pass to whole event or get on the website and choose the show you like best. All tickets are now available from Early bird seasons pass available till the 12th of March.
