Voice FM scooping the top award at the Southern Community Media Association
Ballarat’s Helen Bath (Photo Helen Bath courtesy of Peter Kervarex) has been presented with one of Australia’s most prestigious national awards, the Ray Hazen Award.
The award was presented to Helen by the Southern Community Media Association (SCMA) at their national conference, which was held in Wagga Wagga in late April.
Helen is well known locally as the (recently retired) Manager of Ballarat’s first community radio station, 99.9 Voice FM, however she has been heavily involved in community radio well beyond Voice FM’s listening area.
The Ray Hazen Award is not presented every year. It is reserved for people who have made an exceptional – and extensive – contribution to community radio in regional, rural and sub-metro Australia.
The citation on Helen’s award reads “for outstanding contribution to community broadcasting, the Southern Community Media Association and her tireless work as President and a Board Member of the SCMA.”
Voice FM and Ballarat have reason to be proud of Helen’s achievement and congratulate her on winning this award.
But that’s not all – Voice FM presenters were also awarded the following X-Awards:

Voice FM News – Glynda Robinson
Congrats all round and what a wonderful achievement, well done to all.
