Summer Sundays – Week 3

January 21 @ 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm

One of Ballarat’s most popular events – Summer Sundays – will turn up the volume in January 2018 with a fantastic line-up of Australian musical talent.

From jazz to rock’n’roll to folk music, each Sunday will feature four acts. Held in the beautiful surrounds of the Ballarat Botanical Gardens, this FREE community event is presented by the City of Ballarat.
Week 3 – Sunday 21 January

Music Line-up:
Oh Pep! are musical explorers who travel in the form of a band; a collaboration between songwriters Olivia Hally (guitar, vocals) & Pepita Emmerichs (fiddle, mandolin). Drawing upon their escapades, they take you on a carefully arranged pop/folk adventure for your ears.
Oh Pep! have been bringing their recordings to the stage for years, first trekking around Australia and then touring internationally since early 2015. They’ve performed at CMJ, SXSW and Nashville’s Americana Music Festival, and for Seattle’s KEXP and NPR’s Tiny Desk. Now, fresh off tours with Lord Huron, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Nightsweats, Lake Street Dive, and shows at Primavera and The Great Escape.
After launching into the Australian music scene with their first EP, they spent a week by the beach recording with ARIA-Award Winner and CMAA Producer of the Year, Shane Nicholson and have since launched their second EP, II, with a national and international tour. They are currently preparing to record their debut album and tour North America!

After wowing at Bigsound earlier this month – including topping multiple best-of lists, being added to triple j rotation, featuring on multiple Spotify and Apple playlists, and charting on #bigsoundbuzz, Melbourne’s self-described sombre-folk dandy Didirri is here to give you his blend of storytelling and modern escapades with a promise of something completely of its own class.

The Ukulele Death squad aims to entertain and wow by pushing the boundaries of the small four stringed instrument – the Ukulele.
With their own uke style, blending Flamenco, Mexican and Folk, and sold-out debut Adelaide and Edinburgh Fringe shows, the squad will warp your perceptions of ukuleles one nylon string at a time
With stage-craft, mad thumping rhythms and outrageous solos, the squad will quite literally blow your minds. Enter at your own risk.

Direct from the heart of Melbourne, independent singer-songwriter Emily Ulman has developed her own distinctive brand of storytelling, swirling candour and wry metaphor delivered with a clear voice.
Emily’s latest album, ‘Wear it Well’, followed the unveiling of its two singles ‘Scratches’ and the just-released ‘Hurricane’ – which received airplay on triple j, Double J, Triple R, PBS and more – described as “Simple sentiment done intricately, and totally shattering for it” by Jake Cleland, Strine Whine.
Last year saw Emily support acclaimed American songwriter Jessica Pratt, as well as reprise a successful Tour Of Yarra – where Emily headlines a series of special performances across Melbourne – plus performances at Hobart’s extraordinary Dark Mofo this July. Emily has previously supported artists including Billy Bragg, Olivia Chaney, Beth Orton, M Ward, Paul Kelly, Justin Townes Earle, Neko Case, The Indigo Girls etc, as well as appearances at St Jerome’s Laneway Festival and Boogie.
